Jack Russell Terrier

The Behavior Patterns of Jack Russell Terrier

If you want to be owner of a Jack Russell Terrier, the first and foremost thing one must remember is to train him for obedience and discipline. The Jack Russell Terrier dog's life depends on it as even a well trained dog in his curiosity will find something interesting to chase and even disappear into a hole when you are not watching, which will lead to a dangerous situation for a Jack Russell. Always have a secure and safe fenced yard if you are not an experienced Jack Russell Terrier owner. Due to their natural tendency and their hunting instinct Jack Russell dogs will be roaming around. You may think that you are with him for quite a long time period and you know them well you are mistaken. They may suddenly disappear if let un attended for a long time and may never come back There are many instances that the Jack Russell Terrier dogs are run over by passing vehicles when they are being something interesting to them on the road. You may be scorned at by other people for letting the Jack Russell Terrier dogs unattended as the will go digging the road, climb trees or chasing fencing of any height. They will turn to be a nuisance to you as they can be very destructive when left unattended and unemployed, which are mainly because of lack of companionship, discipline, activity and exercise.

The well-behaved Jack Russell Terrier dogs are the ones that were lucky enough to be exercised, well socialized, and trained. Their nature of being a country dog does not change when they are made to live in a city or suburban-type environment and their needs and instincts remains the same. It is most unreasonable on our part to expect them to be anything other than what they are for. Genetically bred to be a serious hunting dog, if you want to be a proud owner of a well behaved, intelligent and obedient Jack Russell Terrier dog, then you must change your life style to adjust to meet their needs. They should always have a job to perform, an outlet to their considerable energy and intelligence. I would not advise anyone to go in for a Jack Russell Terrier dog if they are intended to be constrained to an apartment The owner of a Jack Russell Terrier must always have time and energy to give them what they need, whether it be exercises or outdoor activity as they are used to such high-density living. They always need to run; they are not satisfied with leisure walking and their boundless energy level needs brisk exercises which always are time consuming. If you are not able spend considerable lot of time with your Jack Russell Terrier dogs at home and outdoor activity, with a safe place the terrier can run, and then is not the dog for you. There are instances of many rescues calls come from apartments, or homes as the Jack Russell Terrier dogs are left alone by the owners work away from the home for long periods of time. The Jack Russell Terrior dogs are not even a bit tolerant to silly behaviours, even from a child such as pinching, pulling the tail.

The energy and qualities of Russell Terrier should be used effectively for the upliftment of mankind since the potential of a dog is still under utilized by the society. What we know is that the dog is meant for protection where as Russell Terrier can be usefully trained as a servant for doing various simple and necessary works.
